Reported segments

Veeva ($928.0M Q2 FY2027, +17.6% YoY). ONE reportable segment — industry cloud solutions for life sciences. The split below is the revenue disaggregation Veeva discloses rather than an ASC 280 segment split: subscription 82.6% ($766.8M) and professional services 17.4% ($161.2M). Within subscription, Veeva reports two product areas, and they crossed this quarter — R&D and Quality Solutions $419.4M (45.2% of total, +19.3% YoY) now runs ahead of Commercial Solutions $347.4M (37.4%, +13.0%). The clinical and regulatory side is the growth engine, not the sales tooling the company was founded on.

How the 8% is built

Investment read

Moat. A near-captive life-sciences vertical: Vault clinical, regulatory and quality systems are GxP-validated inside customers' own compliance frameworks, so replacement is a revalidation project rather than a procurement decision. The commercial half is mid-migration onto Veeva's own Vault CRM — 150+ customers live (from zero in 2024), Merck KGaA and Teva committed globally in May 2026 — and December 2029 legacy end-of-support makes the remaining base a captive migration wave.

Bottleneck / pricing power. Strong pricing power — 45% non-GAAP operating margin and ~87% subscription gross margin in Q1 FY2027, with R&D/Quality subscriptions growing 19% YoY. Two real constraints: growth is decelerating (FY2027 guided to ~13% from 16%), and professional services grew 23% YoY, faster than subscriptions, which management has flagged as a margin headwind.

Role in the AI stack. The life-sciences vertical-cloud layer (AI applier).
