Where it sits

Software Stack → Cybersecurity · figures rebased to Q2 FY2027, reported 2026-08-26

Identity subscriptions are 98.5% of revenue and they are one thing — the identity layer of enterprise security, for workforce and customers — so Cybersecurity is the whole company rather than one leg of it; the professional-services line is implementation work attached to the same platforms.

How the 5% is built

Investment read

Moat. Identity sits underneath every application a company runs, so replacing it means re-wiring sign-in, provisioning and access policy across thousands of apps. Okta's 7,000+ pre-built integrations and its independence from any one cloud are what make that wiring practical. Dollar-based net retention of 107% says the base is sticky but not expanding quickly.

Bottleneck / pricing power. Not a bottleneck for AI compute or model build-out. Identity becomes a control point once agents act inside enterprises — each needs credentials, scoped access and an audit trail — but Microsoft, the hyperscalers and the security platforms all sell that too, so Okta's position is a choice customers make for neutrality, not a gate they cannot avoid.

Role in the AI stack. The independent identity layer — who and what gets access to applications, now including AI agents.
