Power semiconductors #1 (Infineon) — power devices for auto, industrial, data-center

Where it sits

Silicon Layer → Analog, Logic & Mixed-Signal ICs · figures rebased to Q3 FY2026, reported 2026-08-05

Infineon makes power semiconductors, microcontrollers and sensors — supporting silicon, not compute — so the sub-tier defined as GPUs, AI accelerators and CPUs was never right. Its automotive segment at 46% had also been left unplaced, which was classification by end market: those are the same power devices and microcontrollers as the data-centre line, and rule 1 places by what a company makes rather than who buys it. Automotive, Power & Sensor Systems and Connected Secure Systems together are 89% of revenue in this sub-tier. Its core rivalries are ADI, onsemi, TI and STMicro.

Infineon (~€16.3B FY2026 guided) — #1 power semiconductor maker. Automotive ~46% (largest, off-map by kind) + Power & Sensor Systems ~35% (AI data-center power — server PSUs/800V HVDC with NVDA = the AI-relevant core, primary B1; >€1.6B FY2026 AI revenue + ~€500M traditional DC, all booked here; grew to 34.6% of Q3 FY2026 revenue on the ams OSRAM fold-in + AI ramp, at a 24.9% segment margin — the highest division) + Green Industrial Power ~11% (industrial/grid/data-center power modules = B2) + Connected Secure Systems ~8% (MCUs/security). Investment read

Moat. #1 global power-semiconductor maker with SiC/GaN breadth and automotive scale — and the data-centre power tree is now the strongest position rather than a side vector. Power & Sensor Systems earned a 24.9% segment margin in Q3 FY2026, the highest of any division, on the 800V HVDC architecture developed with NVIDIA.

Bottleneck / pricing power. Genuine pricing power where demand exceeds supply: management states AI data-centre demand 'continues to exceed available supply', raised the FY2026 AI figure to >EUR 1.6B (plus ~EUR 500M traditional data centre), and has signed or is negotiating multi-year capacity agreements with cumulative revenue potential in the high-single-digit billions of euros — contracted visibility rather than a forecast. Outside that, Chinese competitors are explicitly intensifying price pressure.

Role in the AI stack. The power-semiconductor backbone for the data-center power tree.
